How to find the perfect Mom Jeans

On Trying Something New:

Mom Jeans

It’s always exciting to try something new. And while I usually tend to reach for lace dresses over distressed denim, I always aim to break up the uber feminine look. I would even go as far as to say that this defines my personal style: I like to add some edge to cute looks with masculine, raw details. This is why I have been looking for something to add to my collection: Mom Jeans.

2017 is the year of romantic blouses: One shoulder, off shoulder, frills and broderie anglaise have found their way from high end to high street. My closet is bursting with these beautiful pieces that just seem to make me weak – and relaxed mom jeans are the perfect way to transition them to fall, now that it’s getting a bit too chilly for shorts and skirts.

Especially for all the colorful options I’ve been on the hunt for some white denim, as a basic piece in my wardrobe.

I have tried – and sent back – several models before finally finding the perfect one at Rich & Royal. My model of choice is quite cropped, high waisted and relaxed. Now that I’ve found it I will be sure to wear it into fall – potentially with some beige ankle boots and a cozy jumper.

During my quest for the perfect pair, I have learned a thing or two – scroll down to learn all my tips that will help you find the perfect mom jeans.

The perfect Mom Jeans

Loose Legs

The ultra-relaxed fit of those slightly loose legs adds that laid back feel. Plus: They’re very comfortable.

Length

Mom Jeans tend to be more flattering as Ankle Grazers – ending just above the ankle. This helps to visually elongate your legs, which is great news for #petiteladies in particular. To add to this effect, wear wedges or shoes with a pointed toe.

Waist

The fit at the waist is crucial for this kind of garment: It should reach up to your belly button and really hug your waist. That fitted part of the jeans will help create that hourglass effect.

Material

When you’re buying mom jeans, stay away from too stretchy and soft fabrics – you don’t need your denim to be super flexible, because the fit is already super comfortable. That nice and structured fabric will add to the cool look.

Puristic Design

Mom jeans are definitely belong to the category of man-repelling clothing. Let me explain: They are not meant to be particularly flattering, and the fit itself is the most important design element. Try to stay away from flashy embellishments or washes.
