Valentino Rockstud Ballerinas Unboxing & First Impressions

The Rockstud Ballerina

Since their debut in 2010, the infamous Valentino Rockstud shoes have become a all-time favorite of the fashion world. Season after season they are released in various colorways, materials and finishes, and they sell out almost every time. After the initial hype has worn down, they have grown to become a classic piece – to me anyways! The iconic studs catch the light in the most beautiful way, and the sleek, pointed shape is just as elegant as it is captivating. I have owned the slightly higher heeled version for some time now, but as much as I love the design, I don’t get to wear it enough in my day to day life. It’s safe to say that the flat version will be my ultimate everyday shoe for fancier events and meetings.

A classic Already?

First impressions, color and sizing

I bought the shoes on Farfetch, and they were dispatched from Paris that same day. Just as my kitten heeled version I went for a size 35 which fits perfectly. For the flat version without ankle straps (which you can find here), I recommend going a size down. This time around I went for the classic poudre color, a slightly cool-toned nude that is warmed up by the beautiful gold studs. They will go perfectly with light colored flowy summer dresses, but I can also see myself wearing them with jeans and a blazer or a leather jacket in the spring and fall time. The elongate my legs beautifully due to the nude color and pointy toe, and the straps wrap around my ankles like pieces of jewelry.
Farfetch is an online boutique combining over 500 luxury stores worldwide, so every order is a new experience. The boutiques all dispatch from their various locations, and in their own ways. So far, shipping was always perfect: The items arrive immaculately packaged, and with handwritten notes from the boutiques, and opening up the luxurious boxes feels like opening a present. Only once I received an item without the original designer box, but it was a sale purchase.
When you first open the box and take out the shoes, they feel like a piece of art, or a piece of decor that is more suited to look pretty on a shelf rather than touching the floor. They feel slightly stiff at first, but as my other pair has been incredibly comfortable, I’m sure I will break them in quite soon.
